My best guess is that this was Jesse Nichols, son of Flayl Nichols and Nancy Ann Hatcher. I believe that Flayl was the brother of my fifth great grandfather John James Nichols Jr. There is much guesswork here, but I believe that Jesse was born in 1788 and that his wife was Tobetha Coulter who was born about 1795. If so, then it appears that the birth dates for Jesse and Tobetha were backwards. I believe that Jesse died about 1841. Tobitha age 55 appeared in the 1850 census in Marshall County, and Tobetha age 63 appeared in the 1860 census in Marshall County. |
