Peters Silas 36 w m miner $700 TN

I believe that Silas Peters was the son of Tobias Peters Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough of Anderson County, Tennessee.  A problem with this theory is that Tobias' son Silas had moved to Missouri and was enumerated in the 1850 census in Sullivan County, Missouri.

It is tricky to reconcile the same Silas being enumerated in two places that were so far apart.  On the other hand, it is known that Silas went to California from Missouri during the goldrush, made a good bit of money, and returned to Missouri with enough cash to purchase 600 acres and build a house on it.  Even though it's tricky, there are a lot of reasonable scenarios by which Silas could have been enumerated both places in the same year, even though the two places were far apart.
