Esther Carolyn Loepper age 26 was the daughter of Edward Christopher Loepper and Ruth Malinda Mathis, and the granddaughter of Peter Leonard Mathis and Louisa Ann Laymance.  Louisa was married twice, first to Jacob Benton Cross and second to the aforementioned Peter Leonard Mathis.  Jacob was part of my Cross family.  Hence, Ruth Malina Mathis and Esther Carolyn Loepper were in a half cousin status with my Cross family members, but they were half cousins as descendants of Louisa Ann Laymance rather than as descendants of Jacob Benton Cross.

Esther married Millard Fillmore Line Sr. age 34 on 24 Dec 1938 in Harriman, Roane County, Tennessee.  This was in the middle of the Great Depression, and it appears that they moved to Florida because they could get jobs there teaching school.

Jacob Benton Cross was the son of Elijah Cross and Mary (Polly) Winters and the grandson of my fourth great grandfather William Cross and his wife MaryWilliam was a Revolutionary War drummer boy.  As such, Elijah Cross was the brother of my third great grandfather Alfred Carter Cross and Jacob Benton Cross was the first cousin of my second great grandmother Hulda Asberine (Asberine) Cross who married John H. Peters.
