Edmund Clark Peters 42 was the son of Tobias C. Peters and Mary Jane Wright, the grandson of James Peters and Rachel McCart, and the great grandson of Tobias Peters Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarbrough. Tobias Peters Sr. was one of two founders of the Peters family in Anderson County, Tennessee, along with my fifth great grandfather Henry Peters Sr. It seems likely that Tobias Sr. and Henry Sr. were brothers, but this has not been proven. Edmund and Ethel were missionaries to China. Their missionary work is reflected in the fact that their daughter Margaret was born in China. Ethel Polk age 45 was the daughter of Thomas P. Polk and Jennie Camp. The family was enumerated twice in 1930. The other enumeration was in DeKalb County. Edmund was not listed in the DeKalb County enumeration. The family must have been moving at the time of the census. All the names were listed correctly in the DeKalb County enumeration. The names of the females were all transposed in the Augusta County enumeration. I have listed the names both as they were actually enumerated, and as they should have been enumerated. |
