William Cate was the son of Samuel Cate and Barbara Wilhite. His wife was Susan Locke. Samuel Cate was the brother of my fourth great grandfather Joshua Cate. Barbara Wilhite was the sister of my fourth great grandmother Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilhite. In all, three Cate brothers married three Wilhite sisters. William Cate "went west" in 1848. |

Calloway Cate was the son of William Cate and Susan Locke in dwelling number 12 (see above). Susannah Underwood was the daughter of my third great grandparents Enoch Underwood and Nancy Underwood (cousins who married). As such, Susannah was the sister of my third great grandfather William Ramey Underwood. |
