John Messamore Sr. was the brother of my third great grandmother Anna F. Messamore. John moved from Tennessee to Illinois in about 1852, thereby founding the Messamore family in Union County.  This is one of the earlier records I have found of John in Illinois.

Because people with those surnames married into the Messamore family, other surnames of interest in this settlement are Corgan, Minton, and Tweedy.  Indeed, John Messamore Sr.'s first wife was Elizabeth (Betsy) Minton.  However, I do not know who any of the Corgans, Mintons, and Tweedys in this settlement were.
