I believe that Henrich (Henry)May age 74 was the son of my fifth great grandparents Thomas May Sr. and Maria Catherine Emerich. As such, Henry was the brother of my fourth great grandmother Margarethe Elizabeth (Peggy) May who married my fourth great grandfather William/Wilhelm Messamore. The only thing that gives me any pause about identifying Henry for sure is that I believe he was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania rather than in Virginia. But everything else about the census entry seems to be correct, and known children of Henry May of Pennsylvania were living nearby. Henry's wife was Catharine (Keaty) Sites age 69. She really was born in Virginia, namely in Rockingham County. Henry and Keaty were married in Rockingham County on 25 Jun 1798. |
