Cora May Cross age 16 was the daughter of William C. Cross and Elizabeth M. (Lizzie) Jenkins.  William C. Cross was the son of John E. Cross and Nancy A. Letsinger.

John E. Cross was the son of Jesse C. Cross and Amelia (Milly) England.  As such, he was the nephew of my third great grandfather Alfred Carter Cross.  Also, John E. Cross was the nephew of my fourth great grandfather Titus England and the nephew of my fourth great grandmother Sarah (Sallie) EnglandTitus and Sallie were brother and sister.

Nancy A. Letsinger was the daughter of Daniel (Dan) Letsinger and Mary W. Shinpaugh.  Dan was the great grandfather of Samuel Mabry (Sam) Letsinger.  Uncle Sam married Elza Cordelia (Elzie) Peters, who was the sister of my grandfather Ernest Lester (Lester) Peters Sr.

Lizzie Jenkins was listed as a widow in this census entry.  That may have been true, or it may have been a convenient fiction to disguise the fact that her husband had been sent to prison in 1912.  William was convicted in 1912 in Anderson County, Tennessee for the 1896 murder of a man in a dispute over hay.  William claimed self defense, and the fact that he was only sentenced to three years may indicate that the jury believed him at least in part.  I cannot find him in either the 1920 or the 1930 census, suggesting that perhaps he did die before 1920.

Susan and Jim were the mother and brother, respectively, of Elizabeth M. (Lizzie) Jenkins who married William C. Cross.  Lizzie was living next door with her daughter Cora and her son-in-law Rufus Patterson (see dwelling number 82 above).
