Richard Gould Peters is sometimes proposed as a brother of Silas Peters, where Silas is listed as the son of James Henry Peters and Nancy Peters (cousins who married).

I believe that there are at least two problems with this proposal.  First, I believe that Silas Peters was the son of Tobias Peters Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough of Anderson County, Tennessee.  Second, I do not believe that Richard Gould Peters was the son of James Henry Peters and Nancy Peters.  Rather, I believe he was the son of James Sutton Peters and Susan Squires.

Richard's first wife was Evelyn Nancy Tibbits, and they were married 6 Apr 1858.
