Effie L. Prosise was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Prosise and Jemima Jane (Jane) Peters. Jemima Jane (Jane) Peters was the daughter of William F. Peters and Susan Yarnell. William was the son my fourth great grandparents Thomas Peters and Sarah (Sallie) England. As such, William was the brother of two of my third great grandmothers, Zipporah Peters and Jane Peters. Frank Prosise was born in Virginia, but Jane Peters was born in Tennessee. So Effie's places of birth should have been listed as TN VA TN. Robert Alexander Prosise was the son of Thomas Jefferson Prosise and Sarah F. Key. As such, he was Effie's first cousin. There is some doubt as to whether Effie and Robert actually married, or whether they merely lived together as man and wife. If they were married, it was Robert's second marriage and Effie's first. |
