Looking at a modern map, 85 Chestnut was probably on what is now called West Chestnut Street. William H. (Will) Rymer was the brother of Martha M. (Mattie) Rymer who married George Steward (Steward) Bryan. Will and Mattie were children of John Jacob (Jake) Rymer and Jemima Riemer. The Riemer spelling and the Rymer spelling are probably variants from the same family. Jake and Jemima were both from Polk County, Tennessee and were probably related. George Steward (Steward) Bryan was the son of my third great grandparents Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate. As such, Steward was the brother of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan. Mattie Rymer died when her children were very young, and Will Rymer helped to raise Mattie's daughter Pauline (Polly) Bryan. |

William Finch Gregg age 2 11/12 married Nellie Mildred (Mildred) Bray on 25 May 1950 in Loudon County, Tennessee. Mildred was the daughter of Joseph Edward (Ed) Bray and Mary Docia (Dosie) Stalcup, and the grandson of my second great grandparents Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore. As such, Ed was the brother of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Haley) Bray, and Mildred was the first cousin of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson. William was the son of Herbert Ray Gregg age 28 and Hazel Priscilla Finch age 29. |
