I'm looking at Rachel England as a possible mother of my third great grandfather Jacob England of Burke County, North Carolina. Jacob was born about 1825. The only bastardy bond in the above list that matches the 1825 date is the one for Rachel England.
The will of Christian Bortles left $50 to his grandson Jacob England. There is no record of an England-Bortles marriage in Burke County. One way for Christian Bortles to have been the grandfather of Jacob England is for a son of Christian Bortles to have been Jacob's father, and for Rachel England to have been Jacob's mother. The England most listed in proximity of Christian Bortles was a William England. So the speculation is that William was Rachel's father, and that Rachel England was the mother of Jacob England.
