Horton Cox was the son of James Cox and Susannah Morgan. James was the brother of my third great grandfather Riley Cox. Horton's wife was Catherine El Frances (Kathryn) Ingram. My Cox family moved from Wilkes County, North Carolina to Greene County, Tennessee in the 1830's. Horton was enumerated in the Greene County census in 1850, and in the census in Bradley County, Tennessee in 1860. I do not know what drew him to Cherokee County, North Carolina at the time of the 1870 census. |
