William George Washington Green age 1 was the first husband of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  This census entry lists his name as W. G. W. Green, and the 1880 census lists his name as William Green.  Their marriage record says that his name was W. G. W. Green.  Their divorce record says that his name was William Green.  I list his name in my records as William G. W. Green, and I believe that his full name was probably William George Washington Green.

William was the son of Isaac P. Green age 21 and Martha (Mattie) McMahan age 20.  Isaac was the son of Silas Green and Mary Sarah (Polly) Brown who were living three houses away, and the grandson of George Washington Green and Nancy F. Gasperson who were living next door.  It seems likely that William G. W. Green was named either for "the" George Washington, or else was named for his great grandfather George Washington Green.  Mattie was from Sevier County, Tennessee.

William Green and Haley Bray had one child, Charles Lee Green.  Charles later changed his name to Charles Lee Bray and was known in the family as Uncle Charlie Bray.  Uncle Charlie was the half brother of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson, Haley Bray having married second to my great grandfather John William Williamson.
