There were two Asel Crosses in the 1790 census in North Carolina, one in Wilkes County and one in Rowen County.  I believe the two men were father and son, with Asel Cross Jr. living in Wilkes County and Asel Cross Sr. living in Rowan County.

My Crosses were primarily in Anderson County, Tennessee.  But it has been necessary to research the Scott County branch of the family because some of them appeared in very early Anderson County, long before Scott County was created in 1849.  I believe that the two families had common roots in Baltimore County, Maryland.

There is some uncertainty in my analysis of which Asel Cross was which.  Asel Cross Jr. and Temperance Dedman were married in 1782 in Rowan County.  But I believe that this census entry is for Asel Sr. and that Asel Jr. moved to Wilkes County before the 1790 census.

Asal Sr. was born about 1746.  If this was him, then there appears to have been some sons, daughters-in-law, and some grandchildren living in the home.  Or maybe this wasn't really him.
