1806 Tax List, Anderson County, Tennessee

Capt Addair's Company, 1806

Braden, Andrew 1 poll
Cross, Polly 250 acres C. Creek
Cole, Alexander 1 poll
Peters, James 1280 acres
Peters, Elizabeth J. 640 acres

It seems very likely that Capt. Adair's Company was located in the Powell Valley area of Anderson County that is now in, for example, Claiborne County.  I do not believe that James or Elizabeth Peters were related to Tobias Peters or Henry Peters Sr.  Rather, I think they were probably related to Tunis Peters.

Capt Sinclair's Company, 1806

Underwood, John 1 poll, 1 slave, 1 town lot
Underwood, James 1 poll

It seems likely that John and James Underwood were brothers, sons of William Underwood from Capt. Underwood's company (see below).  However, that would mean that James was listed in two different militia companies.

Capt Chapman's Company, 1806

Clardy, Michael 300 acres Clinch, 1 poll, 4 slaves
Moor, Joseph 1 poll
Smith, Laton 200 acres

Capt McGuire's Company, 1806

Cross, Micajah 300 acres W. Cove

Capt Underwood's Company, 1806

Cob, Richard C. 400 acres B Ck, 1 poll, 6 slaves, 2 town lots
Underwood, William 290 acres, 1 slave
Underwood, James 1 poll

William Underwood was the son of my sixth great grandparents John Underwood and Margaret Jackman.  As such, William was the brother of my fifth great grandfather John Underwood and also the brother of my fifth great grandfather Thomas UnderwoodJohn, Thomas, and their brother George moved from North Carolina to Sevier County, Tennessee.  William moved from North Carolina to Anderson County, Tennessee.

James Underwood was the son of the aforementioned William and his wife Susanah Kirby.

Capt Oliver's Company, 1806

Choat, Auston 1 poll
England, John 200 acres P.B.
Hackworth, Austin 50 acres, 1 slave, 1 town lot
Peters, Henry 100 acres, 1 poll
Peters, Tobias 1 poll
Peters, Henry Jun. 120 acres, 1 poll
Scarbro, Robert 120 acres Clinch, 1 poll
Scarbro, William 227 acres RB
Scarbro, David 1 poll
Scarbro, John 50 acres Clinch, 1 poll
Scarbro, James 580 acres Clinch, 1 poll
Wyat, Samuel 1 poll
Wyat, William 200 acres PCK, 1 poll
Wyat, John 1 poll

Capt. Oliver's company appears to have included men who lived in the Scarbrough and Robertsville communities.  John England and Austin Choate were living in what later became Dist. 8.  The Peters and the Scarbroughs were living in what later became Dist. 9.

I do not know if I am descended from Austin Choate or not.  John England's wife was Vesta Zipporah (Zipporah) Choate.  Her parents are not known for sure.  She might have been the sister or the daughter of Austin Choate.  In fact, my best guess is that she was the daughter of Christopher Choate and that Austin Choate was her brother.

The Wyats are possible relatives of my fifth great grandmother Mary Wiatte who married Henry Peters Sr.
