[To be continued]

This article was printed in the Clinton Courier, date unknown.  It was clipped from the paper and mailed to my mother's sister Eva Lucille (Lucille) Peters by a friend of Aunt Lucille's in Clinton.  After Aunt Lucille and Audie Paris Wright were married, they moved to Ohio and they raised their family their.  My Wright cousins from Ohio brought this article to our Peters reunion in Tennessee in 2006.

Peters family members who were members of the Oddfellows were as follows:

  • A. E. Peters was my great grandfather, Alva Edward Peters.
  • R. A. Peters was Alva's brother, Robert Asbury Peters.
  • B. H. Peters was Benjamin Harrison (Ben) Peters Sr., son of Samuel Tobias (Sam) Peters, grandson of Tobias Peters Jr., and great grandson of Tobias Peters Sr.  Because Ben was descended from Tobias Peters Sr. and my Peters were descended from Henry Peters Sr., there is no proven relationship between Ben and my family.

Cross family members who were members of the Oddfellows were as follows:

  • W. A. Cross was William Alexander (Alex) Cross, son of my third great grandparents Alfred Carter Cross and Zipporah Peters.  As such, Alex was the brother of my second great grandmother Hulda Asberine (Asberine) Cross.
  • J. R. Cross was John Richard (Richard) Cross, son of William Alexander (Alex) Cross and Martha E. Herrell.
  • V. H. Cross was Virgil H. (Virgie) Cross, son of William Alexander (Alex) Cross and Martha E. Herrell.

Hackworth family members who were members of the Oddfellows were as follows:

  • W. L. Hackworth was William Lupton (Willie) Hackworth.  Willie was the brother of James Lewis Hackworth.  As such, Willie was the uncle of Annie Jo (Jo) Hackworth.  Aunt Jo married William Birchel (Birchel) Peters who was the brother of my grandfather Ernest Lester (Lester) Peters Sr.
  • J. L. Hackworth was James Lewis Hackworth.  He was the father of Annie Jo (Jo) Hackworth.  Aunt Jo married William Birchel (Birchel) Peters who was the brother of my grandfather Ernest Lester (Lester) Peters Sr.
  • S. A. Hackworth is a mystery.
