County Court Minutes, Anderson County, Tennessee

Anderson County Court Minutes Book A-1 p.101
Second Monday 1803 (need to go back and get the month)
Joseph McKinley to Joseph Cross
for 250 acres proved by Oliver Dotson.

This was Joseph Cross of Jefferson County, who is a possible candidate for having been the brother or father of Brittain Cross.  A Joseph Cross was married to Mary (Polly) Hoskins in Jefferson County on 3 Jan 1803.  Joseph C. Cross was enumerated in the 1830 census in Jefferson County.

Received from adminx. an inventory
of the property of Joseph Cross deceased.

This was Joseph Cross of Jefferson County, who is a possible candidate for having been the brother or father of Brittain Cross.

Also, this proves that the Joseph Cross in the 1830 Jefferson County census was not the Joseph Cross who purchased 250 acres in Anderson County.

James Hart appointed the guardian of
Cynthia Cross a minor, who entered into bond
with a security in the sum of four hundred dollars.

Brittain Cross had a daughter born about 1823 who was named Syntha.  Perhap's Brittain's daughter was named after this Cynthia Cross, suggesting that perhaps this Cynthia was a sister, cousin, or niece of Brittain.  In any case, it seems possible that this Cynthia Cross might have been the daughter of Joseph Cross who was listed as deceased on 14 Sep 1804.
