1805   Cross Micajah         The 1805 tax list does not provide a district or militia company.  This Micajah and his descendants apparently ended up in Scott County.

1806 Captain Adair's Company Cross Polly 250 acres, C. Creek       apparently Mary (Polly) Hoskins of Jefferson County, widow of Joseph Cross of Jefferson County.
  • 3 Jan 1803 - Joseph Cross married Mary (Polly) Hoskins in Jefferson County.
  • 1 Jul 1803 - Joseph Cross of Jefferson County purchased 250 acres on Cain Creek in Anderson County.
  • 4 Sep 1804 - the Anderson County Court received an inventory of the estate of Joseph Cross deceased from the administratix of the estate.
  • 1806 - Polly Cross paid taxes on 250 acres on C. Creek.
Hence, it appears that Joseph was married in Jefferson County, purchased land in Anderson County, died shortly thereafter, his widow filed an inventory of the estate in Anderson County, and his widow paid taxes on the land in Anderson County -- all in quick succession.  However, there were apparently at least two Joseph Crosses in Jefferson County because there was a Joseph C. Cross and his wife in the 1830 census in Jefferson County who was the same age as I believe to have been the age of the Joseph who married Polly Hoskins in 1803.  So it doesn't make sense.

1898 8 Cross W. A. 8/$35       William Alexander (Alex) Cross, son of Alfred Carter Cross and Zipporah Peters.  Alex also owned land in Dist. 9 and he was living in Dist. 9 in the 1900 census.
1898 8 Cross J. F. 300/$3500     2 James F. Cross, son of William Cross the lawyer and Jane (Jennie) Black and grandson of of Brittain Cross and Mary (Polly) Parks
1898 8 Cross Nancy A. 100/$200       Nancy A. Letsinger, widow of John E. Cross, son of Jesse C. Cross
1898 8 Pyatt J. L. 147/$1000       Joseph Leander Pyatt, purchased land of William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy in 1888, also Joseph was the maternal grandfather of Annie Jo (Jo) Hackworth who married William Birchel (Birchel) Peters.  I believe that this land was a part of the land that Joseph Pyatt purchased in 1888.
1898 8 Pyatt J. W. 78/$250     2 John W. Pyatt was the son of Joseph Leander Pyatt and Amanda Isabel Peak (see previous entry) so he was Aunt Jo's uncle.  John didn't marry until 1901 and was living with his parents in the 1900 census.  He had apparently already purchased some land of his own by 1898.  I don't know why he was listed with 2 polls.  Perhaps he was paying the poll for his brother Samuel.  I know of no connection between John Pyatt and the Cross family, and he is listed here only for completeness.
