1891 Voters, Blount County, Tennessee

1891 Enumeration of Voting Rolls for Blount County, Tennessee.  These voting rolls can serve as a very poor surrogate for the 1890 census, which was destroyed by fire.

There are two sources for this information.  ancestry.com includes an index for the 1891 Tennessee enumeration of male voters.  In addition, there is a book at the library, Enumeration of male inhabitants of twenty-one years of age and upward, citizens of Tennessee, January 1, 1891, as provided for by an Act of General Assembly of Tennessee, passed January 15, 1891, and approved January 22, 1891, indexed by Sue S. Reed, that covers Anderson, Blount, Knox, and Sevier counties.  The ancestry.com index does not include the ages of the voters.  The book includes images of the original voter rolls, which do include the ages of the voters.  Except that in Blount County, the ages were never enumerated in the first place.

W. A. Catlett Dist. 12
  • I do not know who John Catlett was.  There was a John Catlett, born about 1843, black, in the 1880 census in Blount County, who is a possibility.  There's not a John Catlett in the 1900 census that I can identify as being this John Catlett.
  • W. A. Catlett was born Sep 1862 in Tennessee according to the 1900 census, and he married Dula about 1885.  I do not know who he was.
