William Rufus (Rufus) Bryan age 40 was the son of Thomas Allen (Allen) Bryan and Ida Bell Cate, the grandson of William Enyard (Enyard) Bryan and Amanda Keener, and the great grandson of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate. As such, Rufus was the great grandnephew of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan, the first cousin once removed of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan, and the second cousin of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan. The relationships get very complex, but I am also related to Rufus on his mother's side of the family. Ida Bell Cate was my third cousin three times removed in two different ways. Rufus married Ethel Mae Lowery age 37 on 18 Jun 1923 in Knox County. Ethel was reportedly the daughter of John Spurgeon Lowery and Georgia Alice (Allie) Haddock. However, there is a problem in the data because Ethel was reportedly born on 13 Jul 1903 and John Spurgeon Lowery reportedly died on 17 Jan 1901. |
