Elias (Eli) Helms age 16 married first Elizabeth Emeline (Emeline) Bryan.  Emeline was the daughter of William Bryan and Lucinda (Lucy) Cate.  William was the brother of my fourth great grandfather Thomas C. Bryan Sr.  Lucy was the sister of my fourth great grandmother Nancy Cate.  As such, Emeline was the double first cousin of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

Eli Helms age 16 married second Lucy H. Bryan.  Lucy was the granddaughter of William Bryan and Lucinda (Lucy) Cate.  Which is to say that Lucy H. Bryan was the daughter of James C (Jim) Bryan and Sarah Ann Gulledge.  So Eli's first wife and second wife were aunt and niece.

I have not been able to find a marriage record for Thomas Helms, and I do not know the maiden name of his wife Anna.

Eliza J. Bryan age 33 was the son of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate.  As such, she was the sister of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

There is some confusion about Eliza J. Bryan.  It was apparently the case that Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate had a daughter named Eliza J. Bryan who was born about 1817 and a daughter named Elizabeth Bryan who was born about 1824.  It's clearly difficult to keep these two daughters straight.  A daughter Eliza J. Wooten was mentioned in Thomas's will on 24 Mar 1867.  A daughter Elizabeth age 26 was enumerated in Thomas's household in the 1850 census.  A daughter Elizabeth age 35 was enumerated in Thomas's household in the 1860 census.  Elizabeth was not mentioned in Thomas's will.

George W. Wooten age 37 was the son of Turner Wooten and Nancy Roper.  Turner Wooten was a Revolutionary War soldier from Virginia.

Narcissus McMillan was the widow of Charles Cate.  Charles was the son of my fifth great grandparents William P. Cate and Mary Enyard.  As such, Charles the brother of my fourth great grandmother Nancy Cate.  Narcissus and her children moved to Wise County, Texas in 1854.  Also moving to Wise County at about the same time were several descendants of William G. Bryan and Lucinda (Lucy) Cate.  William was the brother of my fourth great grandfather Thomas C. Bryan Sr. who married the aforementioned Nancy Cate.  And of course Nancy and Lucy were sisters of Charles.
