Peter Lenoir Bryan age 46 was the son of William Bryan and Lucinda (Lucy) Cate.  As such, Peter Lenoir Bryan was the nephew of my fourth great grandfather Thomas C. Bryan.

Lucy Cate was the sister of Thomas C. Bryan's wife Nancy Cate.  So Peter Lenoir Bryan was the double first cousin of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

Peter Lenoir Bryan's wife was Anna Matilda (Matilda) Horton age 45.  The children who were enumerated in 1870 were Mary Malissa (Lis) Bryan age 22, Sarah Elizabeth Bryan age 21, Lucy Caroline (Liney) Bryan age 18, William Henry Bryan age 16, Daniel Horton (Dan) Bryan age 13, Thomas Lenoir Bryan age 8, Joseph Allen Bryan age 5, and Felix Grundy Bryan age 1.  Felix's real name was James Columbus Bryan, but he one day announced to his parents that his name was Felix Grundy Bryan.

Anna Matilda (Matilda) Horton was the daughter of Daniel Horton and Mary Needham.

Peter Lenoir Bryan and Anna Matilda (Matilda) Horton were the great grandparents of Elizabeth Cate Manly who wrote one of the first (if not the first) books about our Bryan line.

Margaret Angeline (Angeline) Bryan age 45 was the daughter of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate.  As such, Angeline was the sister of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.  I do not know why her name was listed as Sarah rather than Margaret.  Also, her age was really closer to 37 in 1870 than it was to 45.

Angeline married John J. Gaut age 45 on 15 Mar 1855.  John's age also was wrong, and he was really closer to 39 in 1870 than to 45.  John was the son of Joseph Gaut and Delilah Jones.

McClure Rachel 40 f w TN
Jones James 15 m w farm laborer TN cannot R/W

James Graves Jones age 15 later married Jerusa Jane Gaut.  Jerusa was the daughter of Margaret Angeline (Angeline) Bryan and John J. Gaut.  Despite that fact that he was listed in 1870 as having been born in Tennessee, the most reliable data indicate that he was born in Georgia.

Margaret Angeline (Angeline) Bryan was the daughter of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate.  As such, Angeline was the sister of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

The parents of James Graves Jones are not known, and it is not known exactly how he was related to Rachel McCray age 40 (Rachel's surname name was listed incorrectly as McClure in 1870).  James must have been related because in the 1880 census Rachel was enumerated in the household of James Graves Jones and was listed as a cousin.  However, James may have been related to Rachel's husband Marshall McCray rather than to Rachel.  Rachel's surname is not known.
