William P. Adams     Nancy Pearce       22 Dec 1857

   Nancy Pearce appears to have been the daughter of
   Richard Pierce and Mary (Polly) Jackson.  The
   witness was James T. Jackson, half-brother of
   Polly Jackson.  William and Nancy Adams are
   enumerated (twice) in the 1860 census in 
   Washington County, Tennessee (adjacent to
   Greene County).  William Adams died in 1863, and
   Nancy Adams is enumerated in 1880 back in Greene
   County.  This information is important to 
   differentiate this Nancy Pearce (who is not mine)
   from the Nancy Pierce who married John Tivis Cox
   (who is mine).

   Nancy Ann Pierce appears to have been the daughter
   of James Pierce and either his first or second wife.
   His third wife was Experience (Spriddy) Mitchell, and
   it is Spriddy Mitchell who is enumerated with the
   James Pierce family in 1850 and subsequent censuses.
