Willis Cox was the son of Ambrose A. Cox and
Mary (Polly) Kerby from dwelling number 147, three houses away
(see below). Willis was almost certainly
born in North Carolina rather than in Tennessee.
William Riley Mills married Myra
Wolfe. There is no known connection between
them and the Cox family. William Riley Mills
was the brother of Celia Mills from dwelling number 146, two houses
away. Celia Mills in turn married Sterling Hays,
and the Hays family was from Wilkes County, North Carolina,
just as were the Coxes.

Elbert Cox was the son of Ambrose A. Cox and Mary (Polly)
Kerby from dwelling number 147 next door. Elbert was almost
certainly born in North Carolina rather than in Tennessee.
Sterling Hays married Celia Mills. There is no known
connection between them and the Cox family. However, the
Hays family was from Wilkes County, North Carolina, as was the Cox
family. So perhaps the two families knew each other back in
North Carolina.

Ambrose A. Cox was the son of my fourth great grandparents Reuben Cox and Susannah
Padgett. His wife was Mary (Polly) Kerby. Ambrose was from
Wilkes County, North Carolina. Reuben and most of his family who
moved to Tennessee moved to Greene County. I don't know if Ambrose
stopped off in Greene County before moving to Hancock County, or if he moved
straight to Hancock County.
