Marriages, Knox County, Tennessee

This is often transcribed as George Peters, but I have verified it to be George Petree.  As "George Peters", this marriage record creates a vain attempt on my part to figure out how George Peters fits into my Peters family.  As a marriage record for "George Petree", I just ignore how he fits into my family because he doesn't.

Washington Blair (Blair) Peters was the son of my third great grandparents John W. Peters and Ruby Smith.  As such, Blair was the brother of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters.

Ida Rhoda Cole was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Cole and Vesta Clay (Vestie) England.  As such, Aunt Ida was the sister of my great grandmother Sallie Jane Cole who married my great grandfather Alva Edward Peters.  Aunt Ida's husband was Phillip Hancher Wells.

William Daily (Will) Peters was the son of my second great grandparents John H. Peters and Hulda Asberine Cross.  Uncle Will was the brother of my great grandfather Alva Edward Peters.

Leander Franklin (Frank) Peters was the son of Reuben Dowell (Dowell) Peters and Tabitha N. Paul.  Dowell was the grandson of Tobias Peters Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough, and hence was not of my line.

Genette H. (Nettie) Peters was the daughter of Robert A. Peters and Mary I. (Mollie) Cole.  Robert was the brother of my great grandfather Alva Edward Peters and Mollie was the sister of my great grandmother Sallie Jane Cole.  So Nettie was a double first cousin of my grandfather Ernest Lester (Lester) Peters Sr.

Menta Reese (Recie) Peters was the daughter of Robert A. Peters and Mary I. (Mollie) Cole.  Robert was the brother of my great grandfather Alva Edward Peters and Mollie was the sister of my great grandmother Sallie Jane Cole.  So Recie was a double first cousin of my grandfather Ernest Lester (Lester) Peters Sr.

Lola Helen Bryan was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Allen Bryan and Malissa E. Underwood.  As such, Lola was the sister of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan.

John Amos (Amos) Underwood was the son of Rufus White Underwood and Sarah Pollard.  This was Amos Underwood's second marriage.  His first wife was Lola's first cousin Clauda Lee Bryan.  Also, Amos was the great grandson of my fourth great grandparents Enoch Underwood and Nancy Underwood.  Enoch and Nancy were first cousins who had married.
