William Cole, Overseer

Knox County Court, Nov. 7 1871, Vol 25, p.247

The Court appoints Wm. Cole overseer
of the Road from Campbell's Station
to Concord on the road from Campbell's
Station to Loves Ferry and he is
hereby required to keep the same in
lawful repair as a Second Class
road with the hands residing in the
usual and former boundary.

I believe William Cole the road overseer might have been my second great grandfather William Cole.  He was living in District 19, Beaver Ridge community, in the 1870 census.  There was also a William Cole about the same age living in District 10, Concord community, in the 1870 census.  It is not clear which of the two William Coles were appointed overseer.  There was clearly a connection between the Coles living in Concord and the Coles living in Beaver Ridge, and I cannot rule out the possibility that the two William Coles were the same person.
