Carl Eartman (Eartman) Cate age 30 was my fourth cousin three times removed and his children are my fifth cousins twice removed.  Eartman was the third great grandson of my sixth great grandparents John Cate Sr. and Mary.  Eartman was descended from John Cate Sr.'s son James T. Cate whereas I am descended from John Cate Sr.'s son Joshua Cate.

Eartman married Ruth M. Henry age 24 about 1933.  Ruth was the daughter of Nathan Silas Cate and Girty Hazel (Hazel) Huffaker.  Elmer Otto Bryan is famous in our Bryan family for his second marriage which was when he was 90 years old.  His second wife was the self-same Girty Hazel (Hazel) Huffaker who was the widow of Nathan Silas Cate at the time of her marriage to Uncle Elmer.

The baby age 0/12 was Jerry W. Cate.

Charles Lee (Charlie) Bray age 48 was the son of William George Washington Green and my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  As such, Uncle Charlie was the half-brother of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.

Haley and William Green were divorced on 9 Jan 1896.  The divorce decree did not mention the restoration of Haley's maiden name, and Uncle Charlie was enumerated in the 1900 census as Charles Green.  But the record of Haley's marrriage to John William Williamson in 1898 listed her name as Jane Bray.  Uncle Charlie used the Bray surname in all records other than the 1900 census.

Uncle Charlie was raised by his maternal grandparents (and my second great grandparents) Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore rather than by his mother Haley Bray.

Kathleen Haven (Haven) Reed age 38 married Uncle Charlie 8 Jun 1919 in Loudon County.  Haven was the daughter of James Monroe Reed and Hattie C. Jackson.  Haven was Uncle Charlie's second wife.  He had two children with his first wife Minnie Ann King, but both of them died as infants.  So all the children listed in this census entry were Haven's children.
