p.18, Charlie Bray to Minnie King, 17 Jun 1906, by B. S. Brown

Charles (Charlie) Bray was the son of W. G. W. Green and my great grandmother Mary Mahala (Mahala or Haley) Jane Bray.  As such, he was the half-brother of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.  Uncle Charlie was raised by his grandparents.

p.18, Edward Bray to Dosie Stalcup, 19 Aug 1906, by Rev. D. Gibson

John Edward (Edward) Bray was the son of my second great grandparents Joseph A. Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  Mary Docia (Dosie) Stalcup was the daughter of Peter Stalcup and Rachel Clevenger.

p.18, George S. Bray to Lula McDaniel, 17 Apr 1896, by J. W. Holder

George S. Bray was the son of my second great grandparents Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore.  As such, he was the brother of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.

p.65, W. G. W. Green to Mary M. J. Bray, 7 Apr 1889, by J. P. Matlock

Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray was my great grandmother.  I am descended from her second husband John W. Williamson.  W. G. W. Green is a great mystery.  Everything that I know about him is included in this marriage record.  I don't know his full name, his birth date, nor his parents.  I don't know if he died young, or if he and my great grandmother were divorced.  I do know that their son Charlie Bray did not take the Green name, and Uncle Charlie was raised by his grandparents.

p.174, W. R. Stalcup to Annie Bray, 14 Jun 1903, by Rev. P. Pardue

Anna E. (Annie) Bray was the daughter of Joseph A. Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Bray.  As such, she was the sister of my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  I believe that W. R. (Will) Stalcup was the son of Peter Stalcup and Rachel Clevenger.

p.197, J. W. Williams to Jane Bray, 25 Dec 1898, by Rev. J. E. Spring

This was the marriage of my great grandparents John W. Williamson and Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  It was Mahala's second marriage.  I am not entirely certain why her surname was listed as Bray rather than as Green for her second marriage.  I haven't checked the actual marriage book at the courthouse, so I don't know if the error in spelling John Williamson's surname was in the marriage book or was in the transcription.

Despite the discrepancies in the names, we have family records which confirm independently of this transcription that my great grandparents were married on 25 Dec 1898.
