George Virgil Stratton age 28 married Cassie Rene Scarbrough on 23 Sep 1921 in Knox County.  I have not found a divorce record or a death record for George's first wife Hester Smith age 26.  It seems much more likely that Hester died than that Hester and George were divorced.

Cassie Rene Scarbrough was the daughter of Tolbert Ross (Ross) Scarbrough and Cordelia Rene (Cordie) Cole.  Aunt Cordie was the daughter of my second great grandparents William Cole and Vesta Clay (Vestie) England.  As such, Aunt Cordie was the sister of my great grandmother Sallie Jane Cole.

I do not know who Hester Smith's parents were.  George Virgil Stratton was the son of Nelson Anderson Stratton and Mary Matilda Sloan.  The correct name for Obart age 5 1/2 was Hobert.

Charles Lee (Charlie) Bray age 28 was the son of William George Washington Green and my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  As such, Uncle Charlie was the half-brother of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.

Haley and William Green were divorced on 9 Jan 1896.  The divorce decree did not mention the restoration of Haley's maiden name, and Uncle Charlie was enumerated in the 1900 census as Charles Green.  But the record of Haley's marriage to John William Williamson in 1898 listed her name as Jane Bray.  Uncle Charlie used the Bray surname in all records other than the 1900 census.

Uncle Charlie was raised by his maternal grandparents (and my second great grandparents) Joseph A. (Joe) Bray and Ferriba Salina (Salina) Moore rather than by his mother Haley Bray.

Kathleen Haven (Haven) Reed age 17 married Uncle Charlie 8 Jun 1919 in Loudon County.  Haven was the daughter of James Monroe Reed and Hattie C. Jackson.  Haven was Uncle Charlie's second wife.  He had two children with his first wife Minnie Ann King, but both of them died as infants.  So at the time of the 1920 census, Haven and Uncle Charlie were newlyweds who did not yet have children.

Emerson Lee Hughes age 4 4/12 married Nora Haven (Haven) Bray on 6 Jul 1939 in Monroe County.  Haven was the daughter of Charles Lee (Charlie) Bray and Kathleen Haven Reed.

Uncle Charlie was the son of William George Washington Green and my great grandmother Mary Mahala Jane (Mahala or Haley) Bray.  As such, Uncle Charlie was the half-brother of my grandmother Lola Ethel Williamson.

Emerson was the son of Wade Hughes age 31 and Fannie Clark age 30.
