David Cross age 24 was the son of Abraham Cross Jr. and Mary (Polly) Pierce who were living next door in dwelling number 92.  Abraham Jr. was the son of Abraham Cross Sr. and Elizabeth Ensor.  As such, Abraham Jr. was the nephew of my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy.  Abraham Sr. and William served together from Sullivan County, North Carolina (now Sullivan County, Tennessee) in the militia of Col. Isaac Shelby.  Abraham Jr. was born in Sullivan County, and I believe his son David also was born in Sullivan County.  I am uncertain as to when Abraham Jr. and David moved to Overton County.  In addition, they must have lived at least briefly in Kentucky because David's first child was born in Kentucky.

David's wife was Mary Eliza (Eliza) Stockton.

Abraham Cross Jr. age 50 was the son of Abraham Cross Sr. and Elizabeth Ensor. Abraham Jr. was born in Sullivan County, and I believe his older children also were born in Sullivan County.  I am uncertain as to when Abraham Jr. moved to Overton County.  In addition, he must have lived for a good while in Kentucky because most of his children were born in Kentucky.

Mary (Polly) Pierce age 50 was the daughter of Hardy Pierce.  Hardy Cross age 10 was therefore named for his maternal grandfather.
