This census entry contains numerous mistakes. Rebecca was widowed, not married (she was married for the first time at about age 31, so the census is correct about that). Her name was Nancy M. (Nannie) Giles, widow of Isaac L. Miller. I don't know if "Rebecca" is completely in error, or if it was a third name. Anna Mae Miller and Isaac Jerry (Jerry) Miller were indeed her children. Her father was James Calvin (Calvin) Giles, not James Claude Giles. James Calvin (Calvin) Giles was the second husband of my third great grandmother Dica Ann (Dicy) Smith. I am descended from Dicy and her first husband Jacob England. To provide a little context, Anna Mae and Jerry were first cousins (albeit, "half first cousins") of my great grandfather John W. Williamson. John W. Williamson in turn was the son of Alexander L. (Alex) Williamson and Margaret Ann (Maggie) England, and the grandson of Jacob England and Dica Ann (Dicy) Smith. |
