William Morgan (Will) Giles was the son of James Calvin (Calvin) Giles and my third great grandmother Dica Ann (Dicy) Smith. Dicy married first my third great grandfather Jacob England. Jacob died in the Civil War, and Dicy married second James Calvin (Calvin) Giles. So William Morgan (Will) Giles was the half brother of my second great grandmother Margaret Ann (Maggie) England. William's wife was Cora Pickens Ellis. Mildred Frances (Jerry) Hunley was the daughter of Christopher Columbus Hunley and Mzee Allen (May) Giles. |

Abraham Lincoln Cross was the son of John T. Cross and Genetta Underwood. The census entry correctly reports Genetta's birthplace as North Carolina. Abe was the great grandson of my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy. As such, Abe was the second cousin of my great grandfather Alva Edward Peters. |

Alfred Demarcus Peters was the son of Tobias Peters Jr. and Martha Miranda (Marthy) Mays. There is no known connection between Tobias Sr. and my three lines of Peters in Anderson County, Tennessee. Alfred Demarcus Peters' second wife Rhoda Florence (Florence) Walls died in 1925, leaving him as a widower at the time of the 1930 census. |

So there is no proven relationship between William H. Cross and my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy. Joanna A. Long age 74 was the daughter of Samuel Long and Susan Staples. |

Roy L. (or Leroy) Cross was the son of William H. Cross and Joanna Long who were living next door. Roy's wife was Minta R. Haggard. Roy was the great grandson of Brittain Cross and Mary (Polly) Parks. Hence, he is not proven as a descendant of my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy. I have a marriage listed for Roy Cross to Laura Borum on 20 Aug 1899. That in turn suggests that Laura Borum was Roy's first wife and that Minta R. Haggard was his second wife. However, the 1930 census suggests that Roy's first marriage was in 1904. I don't know if I have a mistake, or if the 1930 census is incorrect and Roy was really 22 years old when he first married. |

Charles Choate (Charlie) England was the son of my third great grandfather John England and John's second wife Anna Melissa Davis. As such, Charles was the half brother of my second great grandmother Vesta Clay England. I believe that Charlie's wife was Hada Atwood (Hadie) Davidson, daughter of John Henry Davidson and Mary Kathleen Victoria Rudder. But this is just an educated guess at this point and I have not yet been able to confirm it. |

Harriet M. (Hattie) England age 70 was the daughter of my third great grandparents Jacob England and Dica Ann (Dicy) Smith. As such, she was the sister of my second great grandmother Margaret Ann (Maggie) England. In 1930, Hattie was the widow of John C. Carroll. Because Hattie's middle initial was "M" rather than "E", her enumeration in 1930 probably represented her maiden name. She was probably thinking of herself as Harriet England Carroll. |

(Sam) Peters and Nannie Ray, and the great granddaughter of Washington Blair (Blair) Peters and Mary Elizabeth Holder. Blair Peters was the brother of my second great grandfather John Henry Peters. |
