William A. Cross was the son of Absalom Abraham Cross and Mary Queener. Margaret Massengale was the daughter of William Massengale and Mary Duncan. The "E.P. Cross" is a significant mystery. Both initials were hard to transcribe, and one or both of them could be wrong. William's son Jacob Queener Cross was born in 1847, and he doesn't appear in the 1850 census. The three year old child was definitely enumerated as a female, and "E.P." (or whatever it says) doesn't look much like "J.Q.".

Absalom Abraham Cross was the son of Micajah Cross, and father of Wm. A. Cross from dwelling number 22. Absalom's first wife was Mary Queener. I don't know when Mary Queener died, but apparently it was before 1850 (she was born about 1802). Absalom married again in 1879 at the age of 79 to a woman who was 45 years younger than he.

Absalom's name is usually given as Absalom Abraham Cross. Both intitials are very hard to read. It's possible that the middle initial is an "M" or an "N".
