Dorothy Mae Bohannon age 2/12 married Sherrod Howard Sims on 31 Oct 1968 in Dandridge, Jefferson County, Tennessee. Sherrod married Shirley Catherine Yvonne (Yvonne) Bryan on 18 Dec 1954, also in Dandridge. Yvonne was the daughter of Charles Thomas (Charlie) Bryan, the granddaughter of Thomas Allen (Allen) Bryan, the great granddaughter of William Enyard (Enyard) Bryan, and the second great granddaughter of my fourth great grandfather Thomas C. Bryan Sr. As such, Enyard was the brother of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan Allen was the first cousin of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan, Charlie was the second cousin of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan and Yvonne was the third cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan. Dorothy was the daughter of Willie Lee Bohannon age 25 and Roxie Annis (Annis) Raines age 20. |

Laura Kate (Laurie) Douglas age 28 was my second cousin twice removed. She was really 32 years old in 1940, so she understated her age by four years in the 1940 census. Laurie was the daughter of James B. (Jimmie) Douglass and Mary A. (Mollie) Roberts, the granddaughter of Thomas Simeon (Tom) Roberts and Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bryan, and the great granddaughter of my third great grandparents Peter H. Bryan and Mary Ann (Polly Ann) Cate. As such, Lizzie Bryan was the sister of my second great grandfather William Allen (Will) Bryan, Mollie Roberts was the first cousin of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan, and Laurie Douglas was the second cousin of my grandfather Emmert Oral Bryan. There seems to have been considerable variation within the Douglass family of Sevier County whether to spell their name with one s or two. Laurie married Jack Rogers Hodge age 24 in 1934. Jack was the son of Adolphus H. (Dolph) Hodge and Margaret Lare Boyd (Maggie) Underwood. I do not know who Maggie's parents were and therefore I do not know if she was a member of my Underwood family or not. |

Thomas Charles (Charlie) Bryan age 36 was the son of Thomas Allen (Allen) Bryan and Ida Bell Cate. Allen Bryan was the son of William Enyard (Enyard) Bryan and Amanda Keener and the grandson of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate. As such, Charlie was the grandnephew of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan, the first cousin once removed of my second great grandfather William Allen (Allen) Bryan, and the second cousin of my great grandfather William Harley (Harley) Bryan. Ida Bell Cate was more distantly related. Her second great grandfather was my fifth great grandfather John Cate Sr. Charlie married Francis Amanda Lyle age 31 on 2 Mar 1931 in Sevier County. Francis was the daughter of Samuel Rogers Lyle and Martha Lue Joslin. |

Rachel Adeline Carey age 50 was the daughter of James William Howard Carey and Margaret Jane Burchfiel, the granddaughter of John Wesley Burchfiel and Maryann Minerva Ailey, and the great granddaughter of my fourth great grandparents Robert (Bobby) Burchfiel and Anna Evalista Malcolm. As such, John Wesley Burchfiel was the brother of my third great grandmother Leana (Senie) Burchfiel, Margaret Jane Birchfiel was the first cousin of my second great grandmother Martha P. Reneau, and Rachel Adeline Carey was the second cousin of my great grandmother Clarissa Loretta (Rett) Nichols. Rachel married James McCage (Cage) Fain age 51 on 24 Feb 1906 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Cage was the son of James Marion Fain and Hester Ann Berry. The family moved from to Gaston County, North Carolina to Sevier County, Tennessee sometime between the 1930 census and 1935. They were returning from a cotton mill job in North Carolina to farm life in East Tennessee. |
