Providence Baptist Church, Sevier County, Tennessee

Providence Church of Christ of Baptist was at the forks of the Little Pigeon River in Sevier County, Tennessee.  "Church of Christ of Baptist" was an early name for the Baptist Church.  Sometimes, the name was shortened to "Church of Christ".  So an early church that was "Church of Christ" may not have been a Church of Christ in the modern usage of the term, but rather may have been a Baptist Church.

There were separate men's and women's membership lists, with the men's list on the left half of the page and the men's list on the right half of the page.  But there was no necessary relationship between the items on the left half of the page and the right half of the page.  For example, a woman was not necessary listed on the same line as her husband.

Zorabable Langston married Frances (Fanny) Martin, and they were my fourth great grandparents.  I have Reneau and Denton ancestors, but neither Noah Reneau nor Hester Denton was my ancestor, and I don't know how either one of them fits into the family.
