Linville Creek is a branch of Beaver Creek. Linville Creek empties into Beaver Creek not far above where Beaver Creek empties into the South Holston River. The location of the land grant seems to have been two or three miles southwest of Blountville, Tennessee.
Abraham Cross was the son of my fifth great grandparents William Cross and Alice Cole, and the brother of my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy. Abraham Cross also was a Revolutionary War soldier. I don't know if Joseph Cole was a Revolutionary War soldier, but it seems likely that he was since he was sharing a land grant with Abraham Cross.
I don't know who Joseph Cole was exactly, but he likely was related to Alice Cole. Also, I don't recognize the Matthew Cole whose land was adjacent to the land grant of Joseph Cole and Abraham Cross.
Both Joseph Cole and Abraham Cross appeared on the 1796 tax list of Sullivan County, Tennessee. Both of them had more than 72 acres in 1796.
