Elizabeth Jane (Lizzie) Henry was apparently the daughter of John Fouche Henry and Sarah Mariah (Sallie) Bryan. But something is rotten in Denmark. Elizabeth was 11 years old in the 1850 census. Even allowing for the vagaries in census ages, age 11 in 1850 and age 27 in 1860 seems like a bit much of an error for one so young. Also, another Elizabeth Henry was enumerated in the same household in 1850, and the second Elizabeth appears to have been the right age to have been the Elizabeth in this census entry who married Nathanial Jackson. The Elizabeth who was 11 years old in 1850 appears to have been the daughter of John Fouche Henry and Sarah Mariah (Sallie) Bryan. The Elizabeth who was 18 years old in 1850 appears to have been the daughter of John's brother James Henry. So I wonder if the two Elizabeths have been reversed. Yet, the conventional wisdom that Elizabeth the daughter of John Fouche Henry and Sarah Mariah (Sallie) Bryan was the one who married Nathaniel Taylor Jackson is documented in Goodspeed, and Elizabeth was still living at the time her history was written by Goodspeed. I don't know if she was interviewed by Goodspeed, but perhaps she was. So I don't know what to believe. In any case, Sarah Mariah (Sallie) Bryan was the daughter of Allen S. Bryan Sr. and his second wife Elizabeth McSpadden. As such, Sallie was the niece of my fifth great grandfather Peter Bryan. |

William P. Adams and Nancy Pearce were married 22 Dec 1857 in Greene County, Tennessee. Nancy Pearce was the daughter of Richard Pearce and Mary. This is important to my research because there were two Nancy Pierces in Greene County at the same time who were about the same age. My second great grandmother Nancy Ann Pierce was the daughter of James Pierce and Anny Green. This is the other Nancy Pearce. |

This is the same family as dwelling number 926 above, enumerated a second time. The infant was David Richard Adams. |
