Virginia Florence Laymance age 34 married first Franklin W. (Frank) Cross.  Frank died in 1862 in the Civil War.  Virginia Florence Laymance married second Jonathan Branham age 34 on 19 Mar 1865 in Morgan County, Tennessee.

Frank Cross and Virginia Florence Laymance had one child, Jacob Benton Cross.  Jacob was enumerated with the family in Indiana in the 1870 census.  Jacob did not move to Texas with the family, and was still living in Indiana in 1880.

Frank Cross was the son of Elijah Cross and Mary Winters, and the grandson of my fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy.  As such, Frank was the nephew of my third great grandfather Alfred Carter Cross.

Mary Margaret Hawkins age 41 was the widow of Elkanah Cross who was born 1833 in Virginia.  I do not think he was one of mine.  My fourth great grandfather William Cross the Revolutionary War drummer boy had a son named Elkanah, and I have been seeking information on William's son Elkanah.  The Elkanah Cross who married Mary Margaret Hawkins does not seem to have been the son of William.  So this line of research seems to be a dead end and is included only for completeness.

C.N. is a reference to Cherokee Nation, the original name for Oklahoma.  Cooke County, Texas is very close to Oklahoma.
