Martha Ann (Mattie) Waits age 25 was the daughter of Joseph R. Waits and Frankie Ann Cox, and the granddaughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce. As such, Frankie was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, and Mattie was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox. Mattie married Columbus Atkins Arnott age 44 about 1903. I have not yet determined if they were married in Tennessee before they moved to Texas or if they were married in Texas after they moved. Columbus's parents and other family members are not known. |
