John Wilson Holbert age 49 married Zora Waits on 10 Oct 1904 in Dallas County. Zora died on 30 Aug 1912. John married Tommie Cartwright age 47 on 21 Jun 1914. Zora was the daughter of Joseph R. Waits and Frankie Ann Cox, and the granddaughter my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce. As such, Frankie was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox, and Zora was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox. Tommie married first Fred Boardman in 1900, and Fred died in 1910. So the age at first marriage field in the census entry represents John Holbert's marriage to Zora Waits and Tommie Cartwright's marriage to Fred Boardman. |

Martha Ann (Mattie) Waits age 47 was the daughter of Joseph/Joel R. Waits and Frankie Ann Cox, and the granddaughter of my second great grandparents John Tivis Cox and Nancy Ann Pierce. As such, Frankie was the sister of my great grandfather George Jackson Cox and Mattie was the first cousin of my grandmother Ruby Priscilla Cox. Mattie married Columbus Atkins Arnott age 64 about 1903. Something is wrong with the "age of first marriage" data in the census entry because the stated ages would state that Mattie and Columbus were married about 1918. I have not yet identified Columbus's parents. |
