I know virtually nothing about either one of these men. But I suspect them of being related to my fourth great grandfather Reuben Cox who was born on 6 Mar 1786 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. The given names in the Cox family in Essex County seem to show up later in Wilkes County, North Carolina and I suspect the families of being related. The Cox given names that showed up in the 1790 and 1800 censuses for Wilkes County, North Carolina were Aris, Thomas, David, James, Braxton, and Matthew. I suspect my Reuben Cox of having been the son of Thomas Cox of Wilkes County, and I suspect Thomas Cox of Wilkes County of having been related to the Coxes from Essex County. |
