1782 Head of Household List, Greenbrier County, Virginia

There are no Peters in this list.  The Revolutionary War soldiers John Jacob Peters and Christian Peters (brothers) arrived in the Greenbrier County area in about 1783.  It is suspected that John Jacob and/or Christian were the father(s) of Henry Peters Sr. and/or Tobias Peters Sr.

Henry and Tobias moved from Greenbrier County to what is now Anderson County, Tennessee in 1797.  Several members of the Scarbrough family moved to Tennessee in the same party, and Tobias married Elizabeth Rachel Scarbrough shortly before the trip to Tennessee commenced.

Henry was my fifth great grandfather.  DNA evidence is consistent with Henry and Tobias having been brothers or first cousins or otherwise very closely related.  DNA evidence is also consistent with Henry and Tobias having been closely related to Hans Ulrich Peters, who was the paternal grandfather of John Jacob and Christian.
