1775 County Residents, Dunmore County (now Shenandoah County), Virginia

Dunmore County was established in 1772, and was renamed as Shenandoah County in 1778.  No doubt it was renamed because it was originally named for the British governor, Lord Dunmore.  Having a county named for the British governor would not have been very popular in the middle of the Revolutionary War.

Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate.  As such, William was the brother of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.
