The informant was Mary M. Nichols, sister
of John H. Nichols.
Unless he had a second marriage of which I am
not aware, he should have been described as divorced instead of widowed.
The father's name is difficult to transcribe.
It may be Jos. or
Jas.
But in any case, I cannot identify the father who is listed. "The
Nichols Book" by
Wyatt Nichols says that
John H. Nichols
was the son of
Mr. Catlett and
Sarah F. (Sally) Nichols.
Wyatt Nichols was the grandson
of John H. Nichols,
and his information probably came directly from his
grandfather. So the father listed in the death certificate is unlikely
to be correct.
