Meigs Creek Trail

About 3.5 miles from the Sinks to a four way intersection with Lumber Ridge Trail, Meigs Mountain Trail, and an unmarked Spruce Flats Falls Trail at Buckhorn Gap

The trailhead is at point A on the Little River Road at the Sinks.  The most usual way to get to the trailhead is to follow Little River Road to the Sinks from the Townsend Y at point D.  It's also possible to follow Little River Road from Gatlingburg to the trailhead.

The trail goes around a ridge until it intersects with Meigs Creek for the first time after 1.4 miles at point B.  The trail then follows the creek upstream to Buckhorn Gap at point C, 3.5 miles from the trailhead.  There are 18 creek crossings in all.  At Buckhorn Gap, the trail intersects with the Lumber Ridge Trail, the Meigs Mountain Trail, and the and the unmarked Spruce Flats Falls Trail.

Here is a little video from the trailhead.  The video is really more about the Sinks than about the trailhead.  The Sinks are interesting in their own right, and also the Sinks are at the trailhead for the Meigs Creek Trail.

Here are a couple of still pictures that are also in the video above, namely the Sinks and the trailhead sign.

These stills were taken about 100 yards from the trailhead, looking back down towards the road and the Sinks.  The views were through some foliage and are not very interesting in the photos, but they were nice views in person.

Here is a little video from the first crossing of Meigs Creek.  There are 18 crossings of the creek on the trail.

These stills were taken at the first crossing of Meigs Creek.  That's as far as I went today.  To go further, you really need some sort of rubberized sandals for fording the creek 18 times, and I didn't have mine with me.  The alternative would be to take off and put on your boots 18 times on the way up, and another 18 times on the way back down, or else to find a day when the creek is running very low so that it doesn't come up over my boot tops.
