To be a Virginian

To be a Virginian either by Birth, Marriage, Adoption, or even on one's Mother's side is an Introduction to any State in the Union, a Passport to any Foreign Country, and a Benediction from Above.

(One only wishes that a Tennessean had said this about their state, rather than a Virginian.  However, although I am an eight or ninth generation Tennessean in most of my family lines, more of my lines came to Tennessee from Virginia than from anywhere else.  For example, Peter Bryan was born in Augusta County (now Rockingham County), Virginia and moved from Rockingham County to what is now Tennessee in about 1790.)
