Keener Surname

My interest in the Keener family is that there were several Bryan-Keener marriages in Sevier County, Tennessee.  I have no Keener ancestors, but for example Amanda Keener married William Enyard Bryan.  William was the son of my fourth great grandparents Thomas C. Bryan Sr. and Nancy Cate.  As such, William was the brother of my third great grandfather Peter H. Bryan.

Information from the Sevier County survey books that weren't lost in the courthouse fire.

Bk.1, p.144, No.344, Sarah Kelms, entered 7 Jan 1826, surveyed 13 Mar 1826, 21 acres on Dumplin Creek, Adjacent Hugh Henry Sr., George Keener, Ellis Laudermilk, Surveyor's Chain Carriers John Keener, John Rellans

Blk.1, p.340, No.703, George Keener, entered 7 Feb 1826, surveyed 30 Jan 1830, 20 acres on the waters of Dumplin Creek, Adjacent said Keener 100 acres survey.  Surveyor's Chain Carriers Frederick Snyder, Jesse Davis.

Bk.1, p.379, No. 702, George Keener, entered 7 Feb 1829, surveyed 30 Jan 1830, 43 acres on the waters of Dumplin Creek, Adjacent Jesse Davis, Henry line.  Surveyor's Chain Carriers J. Hickman, George S. Clark.

The Jesse Davis to whom George Keener was adjacent on 702 was clearly the chain carrrier for 703.  Jesse was George's son-in-law (husband of Lydia Keener).  The Henry line for 702 was clearly Hugh Henry Sr. (see 344).  John Keener, chain carrier for 344, was George's brother.

I have not been able to pin down the exact location of any of these parcels of land, due in part to the courthouse fire.  But it seems very likely that the Keener land on Dumplin Creek was very close to the Bryan land on Dumplin Creek.
