William Cole from Tennessee in the Civil War

My second great grandfather William Cole is a great mystery.  He was married 5 Dec 1865 in Anderson County, Tennessee to my second great grandmother Vesta Clay England.  Many 1865 marriages were for Civil War soldiers returning home from the war.  Therefore, I have been looking for William Coles from Tennessee who served in the Civil War to see if one of them might have been my William Cole.

According to the 1870 census, my William Cole was born about 1847.  That would make him a little young to have served in the Civil War.  But the census could have been off by a year or two, he could have served late in the war when he would have been a little older, and he could have lied about his age to be able to serve.

Here follow the William Coles I have found from Tennessee who served on the Union side.  The county should be taken with a grain of salt.  For example, just because a unit was a "Bradley County" unit does not necessarily mean that all the soldiers were from Bradley County.

William C Cole
5th Mounted Infantry Company C (Bradley County)
Rank: Privt
Age: 26
Enlisted: Sept 12 64 Mustered: Sept 23 64
Remarks:

My William Cole was only 17 years old in 1864, so this one is probably not mine.

William Cole
10th Cavalry Company M
Rank: Privt
Age: 19
Enlisted: Oct. 11 Mustered: Oct. 11
Remarks:

The enlistment and muster dates do not have a year.  But in any case, this William Cole was probably too old to have been mine.

William Cole
6th Cavalry Company F (Hardin County)
Rank: Privt
Age: 23
Enlisted: Sept 21 62 Mustered: Nov 13 62
Remarks: Died Mar 3 65

This William Cole was too old to be my William Cole, plus this William Cole died in the Civil War and my William Cole married and had children after the Civil War.

William E Cole
5th Mounted Infantry Company G (Bradley County)
Rank: Privt
Age: 45
Enlisted: Oct 18 64 Mustered: Nov 24 64
Remarks: Died May 25 65

This William Cole was too old to be my William Cole, plus this William Cole died in the Civil War and my William Cole married and had children after the Civil War.

William F Cole
1st Artillery Company D (Anderson County)
Rank: Corp
Age: 19
Enlisted: Oct 20 63 Mustered: Jan 1 64
Remarks: Appt May 1 64

My William Cole was only 17 years old in 1864, but the age difference is not sufficient to rule out totally the possibility that this was my William Cole.
