Anderson County News Jan. 2, 1941 Mrs. Margaret Bray, Dies At Age Of 110, Last Of 7 Children Mrs. Margaret Bray, known by friends as "Aunt Mag." died the day before Christmas as dawn was approaching at the home of her nephew, Sam Giles, in Clinton.She was 110 years old, and perhaps a little older, kinsmen said.She was 39 years old when the Civil War started, according to the count.She was a widow of a Union Army veteran, her maiden name having been Maragert Morrow, a member of a prominent Pennsylvania family of Holland extraction.She was the oldest of seven children and outlived them all.She was married to Joshua Bary soon after the Civil War and resided near Powells Station for several years.Until two years ago, when she suffered a sprained ankle, she was exceedinly active, but since that time she had stayed closely in the house.She never wore glasses.For many years after the death of her husband she made her home with J.R. Giles of Edgemoor, her brother-in-law, and the father of Mrs. H.C. Scruggs wife of the Clerk and Master Scruggs.On the death of Mr. Giles she ! made her home with Mr. Giles in Clinton. In her last years she spend much time reading and sewing.Surviving are four nephews, Fred and Sam Giles of Clinton, and William and Richard of Cincinnati and two nieces, Mrs. H.C. Scruggs, Clinton and Mrs. Thomas Butler, Nashville.She leaves also several great-nephews and great-nieces. Funeral services were held Christmas day at 2 p.m. at the home of her nephew, conducted by the Rev. C.D. Mehaffey. Burial followed in the Giles cemetery near the home.Wells in charge.
